ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, Digital Print, 2002. Our family had a lot to do with breaking the race barrier for allowing Native children to attend the public schools in Alaska. My mother was among the first Native students to attend the Juneau public schools, and she was the top student in her class in spite of racist teachers and fellow students.
