The photograph Masks, Masks, and More Masks, finds a theatrical-like scene with Tonto’s sidekick, the lone ranger, placing one of Edward Curtis’ assistants under arrest for impersonating an Indian. The lone ranger is feeling quite manly, even if he doesn’t really care for pants. The lone ranger explained to Tonto that regular pants are so blasé; he wants something more thrilling. ‘After all, I am the lone ranger,’ he explained in low-key exasperation. The truth is at long last unveiled for the world to see. Many of Edward Curtis’ Indians were old White guys. Dang.
